It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Want It Wednesday post & I’m trying to decide if I should leave them wordless, just post the pics. on my wish list & then if I succeed, include them in my Friday posts.

So here is my Wednesday wish list for this week:-

Family Trip to Fota Wildlife Park

I’ve always been obsessed with Fota Wildlife Park.  I love that the animals roam free, the “wilderness” of it all & I haven’t been visiting as of late even half as much as I’d like.

So, when I heard that the forecast for Saturday (8th) was for sunshine, it was the first & only place that came to mind to visit.

The renovations around the entrance make such an impact on arrival, the play park, new cafe & improved enclosures meant we could really make a day of it.

  Taegan enjoying the new playpark!

We walked the whole way around first, stopping for a picnic & to feed the ducks & then afterwards spent some time in the new playpark at the entrance, had a snack in the cafe & took a trip in the road train around the park again.

On the Road Train

We ended our visit with a quick stop at the gift shop.  As you can see from the photos, smiles all around for a really great family day out!

Small Boys’ First Day @ School

I’d never understood the mothers who cry on their children’s first day at school. That is until today, when my little man headed off into the big, bad world for his first day of Junior Infants.

Clutching his Generator Rex lunch bag & dressed in his brand new, too big, uniform & brand new, too clean shoes, it was impossible not to well up at his little face, screwed up in annoyance at being woken so early & wondering what all the fuss was about.

I surprised myself by not crying after all, welling up, yes, but no tears were shed, perhaps because I entrusted hubby with the task of walking him into the school & then leaving him (abandoning him) in a room full of strangers for the morning.

After I anxiously spent the morning wondering what my little boy thought of it all & made the worried phone call to hubby to see how the day went, Aaron announced that he liked school, ate a little bit of all of his lunch & was going back again tomorrow.

We took him to McDonalds to celebrate his first day & thus a milestone day ended ……..

Our Weekend in West Cork

A gang of us headed for a weekend recently, we’d been planning since April & had initially decided on Kerry but turns out getting a house to accommodate 6 adults, 4 kids & an infant was easier said than done!

We came across Driftwood House, near Skibbereen in West Cork.  Usually a hostel, we got a really great deal on exclusive use of the house for the weekend.  The house is modern & quirky at the same time with plenty of room

The Saturday dawned bright & clear so we headed off towards Mizen Head, stopping just outside Schull on the way & then in Schull for lunch.  It was our first time in Mizen Head.

The next stop was Barleycove beach, recommended by the hostel owner, a fabulous clean & safe beach, where the kids played happily until it it was time for food.  Back at the lodge, we

Back at the house we sent the boys into Skibbereen to forage for food (the 3 in 1 in Skibbereen had a great choice so we got pizza, chicken & Indian, the food was gorgeous & very reasonable).

We were sorry to be going the next morning but we were packed & on the road by 11.30am, headed for Clonakilty.  There we took in the Clonakilty Railway Village, complete with a ride on the Road Train.  We spent hours there, well worth a visit & again, very reasonable price for the tickets.

Taegan enjoying the Road Train trip!

Then it was into Clonakilty for dinner & homeward bound after a great weekend!

What I wore this week ….

My new sheer blouse from Awear.  A bargain which I found on sale reduced to below half price.

I wore this to work during the week with a  strappy black top underneath, a pair of indigo jeans, black courts & gold leaf earrings.

I fell in love with the lovely Autumn colours of it & it will see me right through to Winter.

l’m already planning to pair it with brown jeans & a rust coloured slouchy cardi or with a long line top, black leggings & knee high boots with a cream scarf & mittens.

Want It Wednesday – Ankle Boots

My obsession with boots continues!  Having satisfied my neon craving with a pair of bright orange boots from Littlewoods (am anxiously waiting on the order), I fell in love with this pair I spotted recently in a magazine.

These are due into Penneys but I’ve been scouting out our local store & they are nowhere to be seen!   The search continues!
